
In May of 2012, IDES OF GEMINI unveiled their debut full-length, Constantinople. Its mere existence was a triumph for the three band members — Sera Timms (vocals/bass), Kelly Johnston-Gibson (drums/backing vocals), and Jason Bennett (guitar/backing vocals) — but other folks had some nice things to say about it as well.

Brooklyn noise rock merchants TIDAL ARMS are poised for another round of weekend live intrusions with headliners Meek Is Murder, beginning tonight at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, New Jersey where they’ll blister ears alongside Torrential Downpour and Tooth Grinder. From there, the band will level ABC No Rio in New York City with Itto And What Came Before… before trekking to Kingston for an evening performance at Ferraro’s Mid-City Lanes. The whirlwind weekend will come to a close in Philadelphia at Connie’s Ric-Rac.

Following their recent signing to Southern Lord, the label now officially releases Committed To The Ground, from North Carolina-based TORCH RUNNER. Previously only available in a limited vinyl run, Southern Lord now officially issues TORCH RUNNER‘s debut album, Committed To The Ground, worldwide on CD and digital formats as a precursory title preceding the band’s recently-completed new LP to be released later this year.

Chicago post-hardcore unit, THE SWAN KING, featuring members of Pelican and Planes Mistaken For Stars, today reveals the details of their forthcoming second LP, Last So Long. Set for release on June 3rd, 2014 via War Crime Recordings, the offering was recorded by War Crimes co-owner Sanford Parker at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio and boasts an eight track outpouring of gristly, melodic, riff-laden urgency.

Following several months off the touring grid, Seattle’s unstoppable BLACK BREATH will return to the road this month on a swift and brutal trek originating on the opposite side of the country at Maryland Deathfest 2014. BLACK BREATH‘s impending set at MDF marks the band’s first time playing the fest since their 2010 performance, and also is the first tour of the year for the generally non-stop touring machine, following their misfortune in January where drummer Jamie Byrum was hit by a car and badly injured. While Jamie is still working on getting back to maximum killing capacity, he’s now able to slay his kit like a champ once again, and the band is ready to bring some decimating, high-paced...
