Following the release of their debut full-length, Last City Zero, CORRECTIONS HOUSE — the collective musical extractions of Mike IX Williams (Eyehategod), Scott Kelly (Neurosis), Bruce Lamont (Yakuza), Sanford Parker (Minsk) and their minister of propaganda, Seward Fairbury — will be leveling the UK on April 12th for a single London show following their appearance at this year’s Roadburn Festival.

The Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization has announced an adjustment to the lineup for this year’s show. While we’re disappointed that Philadelphia’s FLESH ENGINE cannot be part of our lineup with their 2nd studio album CD release performance this year, we’re excited to confirm Pittsburgh’s VERMITHRAX as a very suitable replacement. This True Metal outfit with thrash, Power & Progressive Metal elements was founded by former and founding members of Reading Zero, Nunslaughter, Icarus Witch and Order of Nine and has recently been joined on second guitar by James Malone of Nuclear Blast recording artists, Arsis.

Wizards and warriors, rejoice, for the chosen one has returned! The Misery Wizard lives! Since the early 2012 unveiling of their debut sonic behemoth Misery Wizard, fans and critics alike have patiently yet anxiously awaited the second chapter in the ongoing legacy of the almighty PILGRIM, a three-piece doom metal band from Rhode Island.

Currently, Between the Buried and Me are on tour with Intronaut, Deafheaven, and The Kindred. I had the pleasure of seeing them live this past Friday, and was absolutely blown away! It was my first time with all of these bands, including the local opener Moments Till Fall. Every band, whether I was really into them or not, put on a fantastic show, and the tour is very much worth going to see. It’s progressive metal at its finest, and each band definitely had their own take on it! I’ll break it down further now. Venue: Jake’s Backroom, Lubbock TX Having deemed this the concert mecca of Lubbock for all the more intimate live shows, its got a fair restaurant up from, and spacious room to move around...

The three week venture gets underway on Tuesday, March 18th in Orlando, Florida before blasting westward infiltrating major cities across the US and Canada before the final gig on April 13th in Silver Spring, Maryland, right down the street from the band’s home turf. The trek is preceded by several...

Tennessee-based, feedback-laden, instrumental bass and drum duo, Black Tar Prophet, will release their second full-length next month via the eclectic sound peddlers at Domestic Genocide. Titled Deafen, the nine track behemoth was recorded live with Max Otworth (Lysura, Venality) at Sonic Hex Recording Compound and sounds like planets colliding. Wholly organic, Deafen delivers an unapologetically raw, corrosive barrage of sludgy, tar-thick bass riffing, battering drum work and fuzzy noise-strewn, distortion meant to be played at strategically loud volumes.

Seattle’s riff-dredging doom powerhouse, SAMOTHRACE, is preparing to return to European soil in just over two weeks, with a new bout of shows confirmed in Holland, Denmark, Germany, Italy, France and Belgium at the very end of March and into the first two weeks of April. The primary objective of the band’s newest tour of the European continent is forging to their introductory concert at the illustrious Roadburn Festival in Tilburg. Samothrace will hammer the audience at the massive annual event for the first time on Thursday, April 10th, performing their sophomore LP, Reverence To Stone, in its entirety alongside Beastmilk, Bong, Corrections House, Crowbar, Graves At Sea, Hull, Napalm Death, Sourvein,...
