Sweden’s d-beat crust purveyors, MARTYRDÖD, have once again entered the infamous Studio Fredman (At The Gates, Amon Amarth, Opeth) to record their fifth full-length, entitled Elddop. The follow-up to 2012’s Paranoia LP will, as with its predecessor, be released via Southern Lord. Translated from French to signify “the absolute end of the world,” the title of the new album is yet another of the band’s works inspired by filmmaker John Carpenter, in this case in referencing his movie, Cigarette Burns.

While we’re disappointed that Philadelphia’s FLESH ENGINE cannot be part of our lineup with their 2nd studio album CD release performance this year, we’re excited to confirm Pittsburgh’s VERMITHRAX as a very suitable replacement. It was my first time with all of these bands, including the local opener Moments Till Fall. Every band, whether I was really into them or not, put on a fantastic show, and the tour is very much worth going to see. It’s progressive metal at its finest, and each band definitely had their own take on it! I’ll break it down further now. Baltimore thrash assassins, NOISEM, will undertake their most high profile tour excursion to date next week, as the young crew hits the road on the third annual Decibel Magazine tour. Set to provide their jacked-up, rabid thrash assault as the opening act of the tour, Noisem‘s set will be followed by each night by performances from massive metal luminaries Gorguts, The Black Dahlia Murder, and headliners, Carcass.
