Formed at the dawn of the millennium by members of Long Island experimental hardcore/metal acts Neck and Spooge, CAR BOMB‘s unique style of progressive metal is the product of dissecting ideas and beating them to death. The result is equivalent to a jet engine propelling gravel into your skull, combining the polyrhythmic and mathematical madness of Meshuggah and Dillinger Escape Plan with the rage and energetic fury of Coalesce and Converge. Though their songs are musically challenging, CAR BOMB refuses to dilute their ruthless execution. Their intent is to assault the listener in any and every way possible – compositionally, sonically, and lyrically.

From their debut three-song EP in 2004, through their Relapse Records-released 2007 debut LP, Centralia, CAR BOMB has reigned in the media with floored reactions from magazines and webzines abroad, but it was their jaw-dropping independently-released 2012 sophomore album, w^w^^w^w, which took the band to the next level musically and in the public’s eye. Recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by the band and produced by guitarist Greg Kubacki, w^w^^w^w unapologetically levels everything in earshot with a relentless fifty minute display of some of music’s most pummeling math/tech metal ever created. A monumental showcase of their intriguing complexity, MetalSucks called w^w^^w^w one of the, “…noisiest, most brutal, melodic, chaotic, atmospheriest,” of 2012. Pitchfork agreed, crowning it one of the most “unrelenting records” of the year, further elaborating that “CAR BOMB have cited IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) as an influence, and Kubacki’s leads are the most readily apparent aspect of this,” while American Aftermath boasted, “This self-produced record is raw and visceral and will absolutely rip you apart limb from limb… CAR BOMB have perfected their craft and song writing abilities to create an album that quite literally ‘kicks ass.’
