TÝR, hailing all the way from the Faroe Islands, are currently recording their new album with producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Aborted, Mercenary) at his studios in Denmark. For drum tracking on this album, TÝR has enlisted the services of George Kollias, one of metal’s most accomplished drummers, primarily known for his work in Nile, as well as Nightfall. Now, the band is ready to finally unleash their album debut Beg Upon The Light. Shadow Kingdom Records debut’s The Vein’s first album Scouring the Wreckage of Time. Between creating other metal albums, the two Altar of Oblivion members formed the Vein. They are a Death/Doom Metal twist to their previous project Altar of Oblivion, and have done different takes on albums like last year’s Grand Gesture of Defiance. Although these bands are very similar The Vein offers something much darker and heavier. Their style is very relatable to classic 80’s and 90’s death metal. This is a double EP feature being released which is a unique and rare find.

After the death of original bandmate Chi Cheng last month, there has been an eerie glow surrounding the band. Even though Cheng had not played with them since 2008 where a car crash rendered him in a semi-conscious state. Statements of love and appreciation had seemed to be the only words spoken from the band until this week. They say that the best art comes from tragedy. Noisey debuted the bands new music video for the track “Swerve City”. There’s a lot of reoccurring themes in this video. Mountain and horses and what have you. A little redundant, but hey, it’s the Deftones, they’re allowed to be. This track is off the album Koi No Yokan, which is in store now.

On Thursday Tim Lambesis was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to one count of solicitation for murder. A video from the trial was released through NBC studios stationed out of California. Lambesis is being held on $3 million bail. In the event that he posts bail he will be required by law to turn over his passport and wear a tracking device monitoring his every move.

As I Lay Dying’s singer Tim Labesis is under investigation for allegedly placing a hit for hire on his wife who he was in the process of divorcing. Grammy-nominated Lambesis, 32, was arrested on Tuesday in a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Oceanside, California, and charged with three federal counts, including one of solicitation to commit murder and two of conspiracy to commit crime after he reportedly tried to hire an undercover detective he believed was a hit man. The September 2012 divorce documents indicate that Lambesis’ split from his estranged wife, Meggan, was amicable, according to the Associated Press.

CATHEDRAL’s The Last Spire was released last week in North America and serves as the final entry in the band’s vastly influential, decade-spanning career. Lee Dorrian explains that he feels “comfortable leaving The Last Spire as our legacy. The funeral of Cathedral has been a long but gratifying process. Deciding to end the band wasn’t an easy decision to make but we knew deep down in our hearts that it was the right thing to do.”

Four years ago Mammoth Grinder released their last full length album, Extinction of Humanity. This album was released through Relapse and Cyclopean Records. The album showcased the band’s drive to devel into a distinctly death metal sound, full of aggression and with a punk flare. The band continued in this spirit on 2011’s split LP with fellow Austin, Texas-based Hatred Surge. Now they have joined with 20 Buck Spin for the release of their wildly anticipated third full length album Underworlds.
