Way of course made famous in the comic world for his series The Umbrella Academy has been popping up more and more in the comic scene as of late with new ideas and potential movie options.

Denver based band Havok have released a single for fans off of their up-coming 3rd studio release Unnatural Selection. The single Give Me Liberty… Or Give Me Death hit radio stations this week. In celebration of the success of this single and new album, Candlelight Records has made the single available for free download today. This single can be found on the companies BandCamp page.

Say Anything’s lead singer Max Bemis recently released his first comic through Boom! Studios. The comic has been such a success amongst fans that it’s already in it’s second printing and variant cover. However, his music fans aren’t the only ones interested in this ironic series. Great art meets a strangely familiar twist of sanity story line, it’s definitely worth picking up.

Following the story of Tim Lambesis’ hit for hire and trial preceding has been the highlight of this month. Lambesis was arrested on May 7th and has been held in court until today. He was released on bail today for $2 million. The bail was originally set at $3 million, however the courts were convinced to lower it.

Ukranian metal band Apostate has decided that they have had enough. They split-up in 1998, all members except Yuri Lesnyi formed Forgot Belief. In 1999 Yuri gathered new line-up and continued Apostate, but in 2001 the band finally disbanded and Yuri started pop-rock band called Neon. In January’2009 Oleksandr Kostko resurrected Apostate. However, again they have decided that the long sporadic project just ins’t cutting it.

Last Friday at Gramercy Theater fans had the opportunity to rock out with Nashville band Red. With a mixture of elaborate lights and heavy music fans were pleased throwing up the different hand signals expressing their love for the band. It being that it was my first time hearing of this band, I was pleasantly surprised and came instantly home to download their albums.

Metal Machine had the pleasure of attending Jesse Malin’s extremely intimate performance this evening at the Gibson Show Room in Hell’s Kitchen. With twenty people present and a fantastic acoustic set paired with great beer the whole event was a fantastic experience. The man has still got it.

The Jeff Hanneman Memorial Celebration will take place on Thursday, May 23 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles from 3:30 – 7:30PM. Hanneman passed away on May 2 at the age of 49.
