The golden age of Hip Hop and the second wave of brutal metal bands kind of coincided in the late 80s-mid 90s, and we got some badass bands from it, and many now legendary Hip Hop artists (real artists, not this trash we have today. People with talent, not a computer). One of the bands that perfectly twisted these two influences was the OG Ice T fronted Body Count. They have a street pedigree that reads like a reap sheet, and they wear their influences on their sleeves like prison tats. The new release, Manslaughter, is absolutely no exception.
July 26th will mark the 20th anniversary of the release of Madballs classic album and first full-length, Set If Off. A fan favorite and defining album for New York Hardcore in the 90s, the title track is still a highpoint during every live Madball show. To celebrate this momentous occasion the band is announcing a special guest will be joining them for their performance at the This Is Hardcore fest in Philadelphia on July 27th. Matt Henderson guitarist from 92-01 (including on the Set It Off album) will be joining the group on-stage.
Sweden’s THE HAUNTED is finally ready to reveal some details about their upcoming album, Exit Wounds, which sees the band return to their classic deadly thrash metal sound! Due out August 25th in Europe and September 2nd in North America via Century Media Records, Exit Wounds was once again recorded with the band’s longtime producer Tue Madsen at Denmark’s Antfarm Studio (DARK TRANQUILLITY, HEAVEN SHALL BURN, SICK OF IT ALL, etc.) and features the following track-listing:
Southern California’s titans of metal, Atreyu, have risen from the self-imposed hiatus they embarked upon in 2011. The reunited lineup, featuring vocalist Alex Varkatzas, drummer Brandon Saller, guitarists Dan Jacobs and Travis Miguel and bassist Marc Mcknight, will return to the stage for the first time in three years for an exclusive mainstage performance at AFTERSHOCK 2014 festival on September 14th in Sacramento, CA.
