Modern purveyors of old-school death metal, GRUESOME, have announced a new EP entitled Fragments of Psyche. The EP further continues the band’s homage to the legendary band Death and offers a glimpse into the next era of GRUESOME. Fragments of Psyche is due out March 31st on CD/7”EP/Digital via Relapse Records and features a two-song slab of Death Human-era worship including a brand new studio track with special guest drums from Sean Reinert (Death, Cynic) along with a “Humanized” reworking of Death’s classic track “Choke On It” off of their second album Leprosy.

Saturday, February 11th 2017, The Dillinger Escape Plan and crew were driving to their show in Krakow, Poland when their bus broke down and the driver had to pull over on the side of the road. A truck smashed into the trailer, which held all the band’s gear, before hitting the bus. No one is in critical condition but the band and crew are still being assessed for the extent of their injuries at Szpital Wojewodzki im. Jana Pawla II (John Paul Regional Hospital) in Zamosc.

Polish black/death metal kings and Agonia Records recent signees, AZARATH, are ready to move forward with new music. On April 7th, the band (featuring drummer Inferno of long-time Behemoth fame) will return with their most furious sonic statement to date, a new album titled “In Extremis”. The eerie painting that adorns the album’s cover was made by Marta Promińska (Hypnagogic Painting).

Japan has a style unto itself when it comes to metal, and ultimately the number of bands from the East that find success overseas are small in number. While true, that does not reflect the quality of music coming from Japan, and Serenity In Murder are a perfect example of what more bands in the symphonic side of the genre should be accomplishing. With The Eclipse, the band’s third album shows them fine-tuning their sound, and in a quick 40 minutes accomplish what many bands take twice as long to do across two discs.
