PRODUCT OF HATE will hit the road again this summer, continuing in support of their Napalm Records debut album, BURIED IN VIOLENCE. The next round of touring kicks off with a May-June East Coast run supporting Bay area legends, SKINLAB, along with IKILLYA. Overgalaxy is a steam punk concept album. As drummer/founder Don Nutz says,”It’s built on the story of four cartoon characters, Don Nutz, Sgt Ote, Willer Hertz and Erik Space …aka The Damned Pilots. They travel through space in the year 2500 A.C. on a 1970’s hippy van customized to fight against their archenemy Gorguss and his evil empire.” The lyrics, written by Sgt Ote, are about love and hate, war and peace, past and future, rebellions against failed systems, all imbued with the sensibilities and humor of classic sci-fi b-movies.

I like the idea of going to shows and seeing a wide variety of bands, particularly in heavy metal. Not every tour needs to be a conglomerate of metalcore or thrash metal on every single run, and seeing different bands on the bill help change things up. So, thus, when it was revealed that Swallow the Sun and Amorphis would be joining an already diverse pairing of Nile and Overkill at Starland Ballroom in New Jersey, it was a complete breath of fresh air.
