More movie news from San Diego Comic Con has swept the nation. Joss Whedon took the stage and announced that Hank Pym a.k.a Ant-Man/Giant Man will not be featured in the film Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. Does anyone else find this a little interesting considering Pym is the one who created the robot Ultron? I hope this isn’t the start of story line deviations.
Warner Brothers has announced a Batman/Superman crossover film at San Diego Comic Con this weekend. This is clearly a product of attempting to expand the universes, in which Marvel is the leading competitor. There has been a list compiled of all of the planned upcoming films. Henry Cavill will be reprising his role, but as to who will be playing Batman is up in the air considering Bale has thrown in the towel on the franchise.
Sam Kieth’s The Maxx was a runaway sensation when initially published. Kieth’s exquisite artistry and quirky stories resonated with readers who had never seen anything quite like it before. Exploring the strange relationship between two realities, The Maxx follows the dual identities of a man caught between the real world and a heroic fantasy realm called The Outback. The Maxx ran for more than 30 issues and inspired a popular animated show on MTV.
Mary Jane Watson is no longer part of Amazing Spider-Man 2. Shailene Woodley was cast in the role and filmed multiple scenes for Sony’s superhero sequel, but has since been booted. Director Marc Webb explained “to streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship,” that it would require MJ not the be there. According to a new interview, Woodley is more than satisfied by that concept.
It should come as no surprise that when speaking about Bloivar Trask being involved in Days of Future Past that only one small ball of amazing should surface as the role. This actor is indeed Peter Dinklage. When this came to pass no one was surprised, however the second villain for the film has been announced and it comes in the form of the Vulture and is being played by Josh Helman.
Officer Downe, the original graphic novel created by Joe Casey (Man of Action) and artist Chris Burnham, is getting the feature film treatment with Slipknot’s Shawn “Clown” Crahan set to direct the Casey-penned script. The Man of Action/Image Comics title Officer Downe details the story of a brutal supercop who continually dies in the line of duty, only to be resurrected by his superiors and sent back onto the streets each and every time. Skip Williamson (producer, Underworld, Crank) and Mark Neveldine (director, Crank, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) will produce the feature along with Casey, Man of Action.
