The Halo universe expands into anime this spring via Halo Legends, a DVD anthology of episodic films based within the popular game’s mythology produced by 343 Industries, a unit within Microsoft Game Studios. One of the key orchestrators of Halo’s morphing from interactive entertainment to on-screen magic is Frank O’Connor, the Halo franchise development director.  

Of all the characters in CAPCOM®’s vast videogame library, arguably none is more recognizable worldwide than Mega Man™. With more than 100 video games to his name, Mega Man is among the most iconic figures of gaming, but despite this, the original blue bomber’s Japanese manga adventures have never been available to English readers. UDON has decided to rectify that, with the release of Mega Man™ Megamix Vol. 1 in January 2010.

One of the entertainment industry’s most innovative and comprehensive publishing, animation and licensing companies has announced the North American debut on December 1st of BUTTERFLIES, FLOWERS, a new manga series that takes place against a backdrop of office romance and social class. BUTTERFLIES, FLOWERS, published under the Shojo Beat imprint, is rated ‘M’ for Mature Audiences will be available December 1st with a MSRP of $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN.

Flower Mound, Texas – November 23, 2009 – FUNimation Entertainment has appointed animation industry executive Chris Moujaes to the position of Director of Original Entertainment. Chris comes to FUNimation with extensive experience in developing international co-productions, managing overseas animation production teams and creating and marketing original entertainment properties. Most recently, Moujaes was with the Austin, Texas-based animation studio Boomstar Inc., where he was President and Chief Creative Officer.  

Flower Mound, TX (November 21, 2009) – FUNimation® Entertainment today announced that it has acquired home entertainment, broadcast, digital and merchandise rights to the 24 episode sci-fi action anime series “Full Metal Panic!” and the 12 episode “Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu” sequel from Kadokawa Pictures, Inc. “Full Metal Panic!” is based on a series of novels by Gatoh Shoji. The first season of the series covers the first 3 novels, while the sequel, “Fumoffu,” covers various of the short stories. FUNimation has previously releases the third season, Full Metal Panic! Bob Budiansky has had a pretty good career. He was an accomplished penciller on Ghost Rider, created the character Sleepwalker, and served as editor on such titles as Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and the entire line of books starring a little known character named Spider-Man. He was responsible for a couple of significant initiatives bringing many (including myself) into comics. The first initiative of note was creating the wildly popular Marvel Trading Cards that so many others and I collected in the nineties. And in the eighties he was a significant architect of The Transformers, writing both the comics and biographies on the packages of the toys.
