IRATION has officially announced the details for their new acoustic album, DOUBLE UP. Finnish Metal Superstars CHILDREN OF BODOM will embark on a 21-date North American tour with special guests iconic black metal artist ABBATH, California-based metal act EXMORTUS, and Canada’s progressive metallers ONI. The trek presented by The Noise will commence in Quebec on November 23 and will hit 3 Canadian cities as well as Chicago, San Francisco, New York, and conclude in Brooklyn on December 19th.  

Rock luminaries SIXX:A.M. release their 5th studio album Vol. 2 Prayers for the Blessed TODAY via Eleven Seven Music. Written and recorded at the same time as Vol. 1 Prayers For The Damned, which was released earlier this year, Volume 2 is an evolution from the first chapter that continues to push the band’s sound forward. The album is now available for purchase and streaming via Apple, Spotify, Amazon and Google.

As previously announced, Armored Saint is releasing a new live album on February 24th (digitally on December 16th): Carpe Noctum. Having toured with Metallica, Whitesnake, Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, and many other artists since their inception in the early 80s, Armored Saint has always been a highly regarded live act – not only in their hometown of Los Angeles, but also around the world.  

Red Fang, who recently released their fourth album, Only Ghosts, via Relapse Records, kick off their first U.S. tour in support of the album tomorrow at Slim’s in San Francisco.  

Post-hardcore veterans Senses Fail will celebrate their 15th anniversary as a band with a headlining North American tour in the spring of 2017. The band will be performing their critically acclaimed 2006 album, Still Searching, in its entirety along with other fan-favorites from the last decade and half to round out the set. DIAMOND HEAD continue their longest North American tour in their 40-year career; performing tomorrow in Nashville.  

  New Jersey isn’t as bad as they say: sure there’s the pollution and unfriendly people, but once you get past the north-eastern part of the state you tend to find a bit of everything. Despite being cramped and filled with a ton of people, New Jersey doesn’t get a lot of the lower-to-mid tier touring bands because of a lack of a suitable venue for their shows. So technically, that’s why see plenty of bands from overseas playing venues in the Manhattan and Brooklyn area. Every now and then, however, you’ll find the brave band from Scandinavia make a venture into New Jersey, in this case Finland’s power metal titans Sonata Arctica, and you just feel inclined to venture there yourself to bear witness... 

ARMORED SAINT will join Queensrÿche and Midnight Eternal for a US tour. Set to commence on November 15th in Seattle, Washington, the trek will run through nearly two-dozen cities, coming to a close on December 15th in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  

The third and final wave of acts for the LA-based December edition of THE POWER OF THE RIFF has been announced, this week confirming the addition of INCANTATION, OBLITERATIONS, KOWLOON WALLED CITY, NECROT, LIES and CRYPT ROT to the event on December 17th and 18th, 2016. The two-day fest will carry on the tradition of bringing a diverse line up of heavy music together under one roof. Presented in conjunction with Southern Lord, each night of THE POWER OF THE RIFF will feature artists bridging the realms of underground extreme music, including a mix of both internationally-recognized and brand new acts.
