Brazilian death metal act Krisiun has been at it for years, but even though metal has been accepted in most countries they’ve played, it seems it’s not socially accepted in many others as well. Reports are saying that the band was arrested at the airport in Bangladesh for nothing more than “blasphemy.”
Rock fans across North America can look forward to Lifehouse & SWITCHFOOT together for the first time on the “Looking for Summer” Tour, delivering 30+ shows to venues across the U.S. and Canada. The tour kicks off July 23 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO and will run into the fall, culminating at The Masonic in San Francisco on September 10. Up-and-coming songstress Brynn Elliott will open every night of the tour.

Blackest Of The Black Destination Festival will be taking over Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, CA in Orange County this Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 26th and Saturday, May 27th. The brainchild of Glenn Danzig, the event not only serves as a music festival, but as a cultural experience: an escape. The festival will be hosted by Full Metal Jackie and will feature camping, along with a number of sinister attractions, and two music stages curated by Danzig.
“This is probably going to be Marvel’s first flop,” I remember reading upon the announcement that the Guardians of the Galaxy, an obscure Marvel property at the time, was going to be getting the movie treatment. It was a gamble, to be sure, especially coming after the fact that the films Marvel Studios had produced films surrounding the core Avengers members. However we all know how that turned out: a talking raccoon, two green people, a tree that said maybe five words on a good day, and a space pirate originally from Earth defied the odds and became household names. The sequel was confirmed right away and suddenly things were looking very different for Marvel as a whole going forward.
Sikth have been long credited by bands like Periphery and Monuments as being an influnece on their sound. As a whole, the djent scene has gone on to constantly cite the band as an influence, with even Periphery taking them on tour in the US just this past summer. As it stands, the band had broken up for a few years, but has since returned and are now getting ready to release their first full album since 2006.
