I wrote last year that Death Fortress’ Deathless March of the Unyielding in  very high regard. From diverse songwriting to a nice balance of traditional black metal vocals exchanged tastefully with death growls, Death Fortress had something special with that album, and even though there were other great black metal releases last year, the band stood out among the rest because they didn’t waste a single moment of their time. So what do you do when you’ve got some high expectations to meet? Make another album and disregard everyone else.  

It seems like everyone’s releasing new songs today. Yet, one can’t complain about that, since that’s just enough to end the week on a high note. Brendan Small, best known for being the mad genius behind Dethklok and the co-existing show, Metalocalypse, is back again after some years of absence in trying to bring Dethklok back, yet he’s bringing his solo project back to the forefront.  

Metal Machine caught up with vocal titan Maile Flanagan, who for the past several years has voiced the character Naruto. She spoke all things Naruto, breaking into voice over work and her other acting work.  

One of the long-standiing New Wave of American Heavy Metal (NWOAHM for short, I guess) bands, Chimaira, called it quits in 2014 amidst constantly rotating members, save for lead vocalist Mark Hunter. Marking 2013’s Crown of Phantoms as their swan song, Chimaira ceased to be. That’s changing, if for at least one show.
