Evan Conway Hard Music, Music Video, News, Streaming Comments Off on Op-Ed: Dimmu Borgir Isn’t Black Metal Anymore

There is a really good chance your first “black metal” band was Dimmu Borgir, and it was probably “Progenies of the Great Apocalypse” that shocked and surprised you because it wasn’t your average metal band. I’m not saying this is verbatim your situation, but there’s a good chance you fit somewhere in this situation. But, essentially, this is where I found myself in 8th or 9th grade, and a lot of people were in the same situation as I when that Nordic metal scene became larger than just the UK and America. Eight years after their last album, however, and many years of silence, Dimmu Borgir have returned, and things certainly are different than they were before.

Evan Conway Hard Music, News Comments Off on Everyone Is Breaking Up This Week

We aren’t even a quarter of the way through 2018 yet and three bands have already disbanded within a week of one another. While break-ups are certainly no uncommon event in the world of music, it is still unfortunate to see the following events transpire as they have. Some are tolerable, but there’s always one that manages to sting the most for various reasons. Tengger Cavalry are the most recent in announcing the cessation. In a post on Facebook, frontman Nature G. detailed why he was pulling the plug on the project: Within all these eight years, I have nothing but gratefulness to all your support.
