It’s probably safe to say that legendary Anthrax Guitarist Scott Ian is one of those guys tha says it the way it is. Since the beginings of his band Anthrax, Mr. Ian has had plenty to say about all things metal, politics and frontmen. Metalmachine.net recently caught up with Scott in NYC. he spoke on several subjects, mainly the Lobo comic book he has just finished for DC comics. He also went on a tangent about movies, music and that pesky rumor that his band would tour this summer with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer.  

Reprise Records and Serj Tankian have teamed up with theatrical distributor Cinema Purgatorio to present a series of nationwide screenings of Tankian’s Elect the Dead Symphony — a very special orchestral interpretation of Tankian’s critically acclaimed solo debut Elect the Dead. The dynamic one-off performance was recorded and filmed in HD by six cameras at the majestic Auckland Town Hall in New Zealand with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.  

E1 Entertainment Distribution announces a new deal with SPV in North America. E1 will acquire both physical and digital rights for the Germany-based metal label’s extensive roster, which includes metal juggernauts Molly Hatchet, Skinny Puppy, Whitesnake, and Monster Magnet, among others.  

AC/DC’s Music to be featured in “IRON MAN 2”; Band to Release AC/DC: Iron Man 2 Album on Monday April 19, 2010 Through a unique collaboration between Marvel Studios and Columbia Records, AC/DC’s music will be featured in Marvel Studios’ “IRON MAN 2,” the sequel to the 2008 blockbuster film. In addition, Columbia Records will release the album AC/DC: Iron Man 2 on Monday, April 19, 2010. AC/DC: Iron Man 2, features 15 classic AC/DC songs selected from ten of the band’s studio albums, ranging from 1976 to 2008. The complete track listing can be found below.  

Legendary rocker MICHAEL MONROE has long been at the forefront of breaking music barriers. This spring he returns with a highly anticipated new group that was announced today, Monday, January 25 at a press conference hosted by pro-skater, video director and MTV personality Bam Margera at Swing House Rehearsal & Recording Studios in Hollywood, CA.  

After the release of their next album (Sting in the Tail, release date: March 23rd, Universal Music Enterprises) and a three-year mammoth tour, which will take them across five continents, one of the most successful rock bands in the world, SCORPIONS, will be ending their career. The band broke the news on their website on Sunday.  

Alice in Chains have just released their behind the scenes clip for the “Your Decision” video on AOL’s Noisecreep. The band decided to go with Director Stephen Schuster, who also directed the band’s video for “A Looking In View”.  

TALES FROM THE GRAVE IN SPACE, the new album from Irish thrashers GAMA BOMB, is out now on CD and vinyl in Europe. Originally released online in 2009 as a free, download-only album, TALES FROM THE GRAVE IN SPACE is now available on physical format for the first time. Blood Into Wine, the forthcoming documentary about Maynard James Keenan (front man for Tool, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle) and vineyard partner Eric Glomski’s mission to bring notoriety and credibility to Northern Arizona’s burgeoning wine industry, begins its theatrical run on Feb. 19 at select theaters across the United States.

Them Crooked Vultures, the supergroup comprised of music icons Joshua Homme, Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones, are set to rock the soundstage of another iconic institution, Saturday Night Live. The band will take the stage live in front of the raucous SNL crowd on February 6th with the show being hosted by Ashton Kutcher. Following their stint on late night television TCV will bring the rock to a handful of cities along the East coast before heading to the desert to play Coachella on April 16.  

St. Albans, UK hardcore act, YOUR DEMISE have begun their first trek of North America. Their first ever show on American soil took place on the 20th at The Crossing in Palmdale, CA. All reports say that their first show was a success and that the breakneck energy of the audience was the right way to welcome the band to the country.
