Mongolian folk metal act, relocated to New York Tengger Cavalry never seem to slow down, and with a whole new album on the way, you better believe we’re going to be getting content from the band.  

San Diego’s FOR THE WIN has a new label home of Victory Records. They will release their new album, Heavy Thoughts, this August. Alternative Press described them as “sweat-soaked, pit-ready pop punk and riff-heavy metalcore.”  

Hardcore/metalcore veterans Integrity are still at it and going as strong as ever. Much to the appeasement of everyone, the band announced today that their new album, Howling, For The Nightmare Shall Consume will be releasing this year. Due out on Relapse Records, Howling will be the band’s first studio album since 2013’s Suicide Black Snake.  

Textures, the progressive groove/metalcore acts of the last decade, have announced their break up. Having announced plans initially to record a double album, the second half of 2016’s Phenotype, the second disc known as Genotype has now been shelved.  

Shining is no stranger to controversy, seeing as the band has been thriving off of both good and bad press for their entire career. Front man Niklas Kvarforth has seemingly made it his entire career to be the most controversial figure in the depths of extreme metal, with the band’s first US run being surrounded by controversy because of his actions on stage. Their current US tour is no different.  

Danish composer and classically trained multi-instrumentalist, MYRKUR unveils her forthcoming album title Mareridt, out this fall on Relapse. It is the follow up to her masterful debut M, released back in 2015 to overwhelming critical acclaim. Mareridt was produced between Seattle and Copenhagen by Randall Dunn who is known for his work with Marissa Nadler, Earth, Sunn O))), Boris, Wolves In The Throne Room and more.  

Relapse Records is proud to announce the official signing of extreme metal act EXPULSION. The newly formed group features members of Repulsion, Exhumed, Phobia, Intronaut, Gruesome and numerous others. GOATWHORE, who are currently wrapping up a tour with label mates Amon Amarth, will play the Fort Worth Metal Fest at the The Rail Club in Fort Wort, Texas at the end of the month before taking to the streets again for a near-three-week North American journey from June 9th through July 1st. On May 19th, international metal superstars DragonForce will release their new studio album, Reaching Into Infinity, via Metal Blade Records in the USA. Today, the band has launched a video for the new single, “Ashes of the Dawn”  

I think I make it clear as to what I’m looking for in music: either show me something new that’s going to demand my attention, or give me something of quality. In some genres, it’s a mixed bag: thrash metal, black metal, and punk all respectively don’t need to change anything, as the genre have unspoken rule books on how to write effectively; sometimes there just isn’t anything to reinvent and it’s better to keep the wheeling spinning as it always has.
