When I was in 9th grade, I missed the chance to see Mastodon perform Crack the Skye in its entirety. Such an album has made a massive impact on me growing up, it was a disappointment that I couldn’t go see them perform. A few years later and I missed another chance to see a full album performed in its entirety: Amon Amarth’s Surtur Rising. Part of their “Evening With” tour before they blew up to great heights on the following album, I ended up willingly passing on this performance. While I enjoy the album they were advertising, it never made any sense to me: why were they playing this album in particular live?
Los Angeles Thrash Metal legends BODY COUNT have released yet another music video in the wake of their widely acclaimed new album, Bloodlust. The band’s music video for the song “Here I Go Again” is arguably their most gory and horrific offering to date, all the while showcasing frontman Ice-T’s well known fascination with the morbid side of art and playing the villain. Only befitting for such a video, the band has partnered with some of the biggest authorities on horror-focused entertainment, namely Bloody-Disgusting, Dread Central, and Blumhouse, to release the new video.
I remember the exact moment when I learned Angela Gossow was leaving Arch Enemy, and then the next day I was overly satisfied with Alissa White-Gluz’s performance on “War Eternal.” The album went on to be a big one for the band, with Alissa being a natural fit for the band. Three years on, it’s time for a new album.
I can’t say I’m excited for what Sony has in plan for their Spider-Man properties. The upcoming film starring Venom, planned to be an R-rated movie, may star Tom Hardy, but I’m not sold. To add fire to the flame, Silver & Black is still coming and with it starring a Silver Sable and Black Cat. It remains to be seen how this is going to connect to the MCU, seeing as Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are both contradicting one another, but Sony are now moving forward with announcing plans for more movies.
Jack is back! Samurai Jack, that is, and he’s making his grand return to comics, courtesy of writer Fabian Rangel Jr. (‘Namwolf) and artist Warwick Johnson Cadwell (Tank Girl). Hot off the heels of the critically acclaimed Helena Crash, the pair are re-teaming for a bold new take on the iconic samurai.
Writer Will Pfeifer (Aquaman, Hellboy), and artist Rodney Buchemi (Uncanny X-Men) have been confirmed as the creative team to bring the magical and mysterious world of the hit TNT television series The Librarians to the pages of comics! Set to launch September 13th, fans of the record-breaking show will be excited to see their favorite characters tackling all new adventures as they wait for the premiere of season four!
