Controversial filmmaker and social activist Peter Joseph, made world famous by his counter-culture/social revolution film series under the banner title of “Zeitgeist”, meaning the “general intellectual, moral and cultural climate of an era”, was tapped by Black Sabbath to direct the nearly 9 min. epic, first single release of the group since their original formation disbanded in 1978 with the leaving of Ozzy Osborne. The new album is titled “13”. What was deemed more of a “short-film” than a music video, the work had its World Premiere screening at the band’s June 6th album release in Hollywood’s Harmony Gold Preview Center. The American hardcore metal legend PRO-PAIN are set to release their new studio album The Final Revolution on November 25th, 2013 (Germany: November 22nd, 2013; US/Canada: December 3rd, 2013).  

In THE SAVIORS, debuting in December from Image Comics, writer James Robinson (Earth 2, Starman, The Shade) and artist J. Bone (The Rocketeer: Hollywood Horror, The Spirit) introduce us to Tomas Ramirez. He has a nice job at a gas station, the cops don’t give him any trouble, and the weather’s nice. Life is easy, and Tomas likes easy. But when he stumbles upon an extraterrestrial conspiracy to take over the world, his life becomes anything but easy. He’s thrown into a fight for the future of the Earth against an unstoppable threat, and his only hope is to find allies before it’s too late.  

As announced at Rose City Comic Con, Dark Horse will unleash its latest superhero early next year! Joshua Hale Fialkov (Tumor), Eisner nominee and writer of the Emmy-nominated animated film Afro Samurai: Resurrection, is set to pen a brand-new series from the pages of Captain Midnight—Skyman!

Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man makes its Disney Channel debut in a special one-hour Halloween event, Saturday, October 5 at 9pm/8c. This brand new prime time animation special features a never-before-seen team-up with Blade, the fan favorite vampire hunter; Jack Russell aka Werewolf by Night; The Living Mummy; Frankenstein’s Monster and Man-Thing. United together in animation for the first time, Spider-Man and his monstrous allies take on one of the biggest Halloween villains of all time, Dracula!  

There’s a lot of talk out there these days, and really in recent years, about Hollywood being “out of ideas.” This is one reason that many of the biggest and most successful films of recent years have been re-makes and sequels, and massive franchises like Marvel movies based on old comics, etc. As a consequence of the seeming lack of new ideas, many are turning to other forms of casual entertainment.  

Continuing to set the gold standard in comics preservation, IDW Publishing’s Library of American Comics, in partnership with DC Entertainment, will release the amazing never-before reprinted adventures of Superman that appeared in the Sunday newspapers for more than twenty-five years. The strips will be releases in in chronological order in three sub-sets: the 1940s Golden Age, the 1950s Atomic Age, and the 1960s Silver Age.  

Cannibal Corpse will be wrapping up their 25th anniversary celebrations for 2013 with a pair of shows in Florida, which has served as the band’s base of operations since relocating to Tampa from Buffalo, NY in 1994. The shows are scheduled for November 29th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at the Culture Room and November 30th in Tampa, FL at the Brass Mug. Tickets will be on sale this Friday at ticketmaster.com for the Culture Room and TBA for the Brass Mug.  

SEVENDUST’s touring schedule isn’t close to ending anytime soon.  In addition to their own slew of headlining dates, the Atlanta band has announced that they’ll be a part of the “From Death To Destiny Tour” along with Asking Alexandria, All That Remains, Emmure and For Today, which kicks off October 26 in Lubbock, TX at the Lonestar Amphitheatre (as part of “FMX Freak Fest”).
