Image Comics is pleased to reveal early artwork from writer Ivan Brandon (Wolverine, Men of War) and artist Nic Klein (Captain America, Thor), from their new, dark sci-fi series, DRIFTER. The ongoing series will launch with issue #1 on 11/12 and final order cutoff deadline for retailers is 10/20.

Revealed at Marvel’s New York Comic Con “Spider-Man” Panel, Marvel Comics is excited to announce the latest addition to the Spider-Man mythos – Spider-Gwen! The new on-going series will focus on Gwen Stacy, who, in an alternate universe, was the one bitten by the radioactive spider giving her spider-powers!  

Austin-based hardcore/death crossover outfit MAMMOTH GRINDER has confirmed a three-week tour late this fall, joining Santa Cruz progressive death metal outfit Inanimate Existence as support for Richmond’s bongblasters Cannabis Corpse. The tour will begin in the Southeast, with the first show in Wilmington, North Carolina on November 28th, and whip counter-clockwise through the country across the Gulf Coast, up through California then eastward through the Midwest and back down the East Coast, coming to a halt in Richmond on December 20th.  

At first glance, one might not think much of the unassuming lady sitting at the table, directing fans to available seats as they pile into the small conference room. She is soft-spoken, stands 5 feet tall, and reminds me of the sweet aunt that comes to Christmas every year with extra gifts. I always loved that aunt. She bought me Super Mario 3 for the original Nintendo when I was a kid and she’s always been my favorite. But back to the unassuming lady at the table. You wouldn’t know it by her casual demeanor, but she is 8 time Emmy award-winning Andrea Romano and she is responsible for a tremendous part of our childhoods.  

Today, the massive SOUTHWEST TERROR FEST III: THE WESTERN FRONT begins in Tucson, Arizona, taking over the town for four solid days of brutal musical acts from across the Western half of the country. With the main event shows this Friday, Saturday and Sunday night taking place at the historic Rialto Theatre, with tonight’s kickoff show and afterparty shows at the nearby The District Tavern, the third year of SOUTHWEST TERROR FEST is by far the most massive installment yet.
