Geof Darrow’s slick, precise inks and stunning detail have amazed comics fans for decades, from his early work with Moebius to Hard Boiled, his first collaboration with Frank Miller, to the overwhelming success of his current series, The Shaolin Cowboy. Now Darrow provides incredible insight into his process by sharing the pencil drawings behind his meticulous inks in a huge hardcover collection, Lead Poisoning: The Pencil Art of Geof Darrow. Dark Horse Comics will release the oversized 128 page book, 9×12” HC and priced at $34.99, in July ahead of Darrow’s appearance at San Diego Comic Con.  

Jimmy Kay of Canada’s The Metal Voice streamed a live interview recently with Steve and Millie Grimmett to update fans on Steve’s ongoing medical condition.  Venom Inc.’s Tony Dolan and former Anthrax vocalist Neil Turbin joined the conversation.  It is the second interview Kay has had in the past week’s since announcement of Steve Grimmett’s hospitalization in Ecuador.

EYEHATEGOD frontman Mike IX Williams successfully underwent a liver transplant last month and continues a slow road to recovery. The IX Lives IX Lives Benefit, set to commence in Williams’ hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana this coming weekend, was organized to help with his mounting medical expenses. The three-day event will take place at Siberia and Poor Boys venues and includes appearances by Crowbar, Superjoint, Goatwhore, Thou, Classhole, Mountain Of Wizard, and many more acts bound together for the cause.

The Devil Wears Prada will kick off 2017 with a special limited edition vinyl release of their new album, Transit Blues (Rise Records), set to be available mid-to-late February.  The album will be pressed on 180g black vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve with a rigid slipcase.  

Current Batman actor Ben Affleck has informed the powers that be that he will no longer be directing the up coming solo Batman movie “The Batman”. The Batman would have been the first in a reported trilogy of solo Batman films that Affleck would have probably directed, written and starred in. Mr. Affleck will still star, produce and write the movie, which will feature the Caped Crusader do battle with villain for hire Deathstroke: The Terminator. Rumors have been flying as to what made Mr. Affleck have a change of heart. Mike Mignola, the legendary creator of Hellboy and NEW YORK TIMES bestselling novelist Christopher Golden reunite for the epic conclusion to Baltimore with Baltimore: The Red Kingdom, a five part comic book series from Dark Horse Comics co-written by Mignola and Golden, with art by award winning children’s book illustrator Peter Bergting, colors by Michelle Madsen and stunning covers by Ben Stenbeck (Frankenstein Underground).
