Novembers Doom have released their tenth full-length album entitled Hamartia, out today via The End Records on digital, CD, and vinyl formats. Formed in 1989, this release marks the band’s 28th anniversary year, and is a sonic testament to their legacy as one of the earliest U.S. dark & doom metal bands still active today.  

Dynamite Entertainment is pleased to announce that the iconic Pinup Queen Bettie Page, who lit the pop culture world on fire more than sixty years ago, is returning in comic book form courtesy of writer David Avallone (Doc Savage: The Ring of Fire, The Twilight Zone: The Shadow) and artist Colton Worely (The Shadow, Project Superpowers: Blackcross). With the debut issue set for release in July, Bettie Page #1 will bring the heat to fans this summer.

Las Vegas-based rock outfit OTHERWISE are returning to the road this Summer on a headlining tour in the states. The band will embark on the “Close To The Gods” tour, with support coming from Through Fire and Righteous Vendetta. The Wise Guys have been hard at work on a new record, which will serve as the follow up to their sophomore effort “Peace At All Costs” (2014). US black metal unit WOE begins their European live takeover with Germany-based black metal unit Ultha Thursday, April 13th. The trek includes an appearance at Roadburn on April 22nd with future onstage assaults both stateside and abroad in the plotting stages.

I enjoyed Ghost in the Shell, I’ll admit that much. As a movie, it was entertaining. Visually stunning. Sonically harrowing. The acting was alright, but the biggest sin the movie commits outside of its controversial whitewashing scandal is that it turns the philosophical message of the source into a character story. While not a bad call in an attempt to appeal to an American audience, it ultimately may be considered insulting in the sense that it belittles the audience in an attempt to appeal to them. Now that rumors of an adaptation of the classic and influential anime film Akira are spinning once again, Akira has the chance to succeed where Ghost in the Shell, ultimately, fell short. Canadian heavy metal/stoner rock faction BLACK WIZARD is currently waging their riff war across the US supporting Brant Bjork and Royal Thunder. The tour, which BLACK WIZARD officially kicked off April 9th in Sacramento, California, will run through May 1st in Los Angeles, California and includes performances with Pentagram.
