Writer G. Willow Wilson (AIR) and newcomer Leandro Oliveira provide a “Grounded” interlude in October’s SUPERMAN #704, detailing a visit Lois Lane makes to the town where she went to college in anticipation of Superman’s arrival. When she runs into an old boyfriend and sees the nice, normal family he has, Lois is can’t help but examine the choices she made and wonder if they were the correct ones.  

Writer Judd Winick and artist Marco Rudy kick off a new arc on SUPERMAN/BATMAN by jumping back to the days following FINAL CRISIS. In the shadow of the “Return of Bruce Wayne,” Superman remembers the fall of The Dark Knight, as Dick Grayson takes on the mantle of the Bat. But as a threat both alien and mystical erupts in Gotham, does the new World’s Finest team stand a chance?  

What do you get for the Lantern who wants everything? This December, Orange Lantern Larfleeze, who’s never seen anything he didn’t want for his own, has his hopes set on everything Christmas-related, including Santa Claus. And nothing, not even the heroes that populate the DCU are going to stand in his way.  

Here’s the situation: There’s a cabal of aliens hiding in plain site on Earth, and they’re set on smuggling weapons off the planet to fuel an interplanetary conflict. Who’s around to save the day? Green Lantern. Good, right? And Plastic Man. Hm. Good luck, GL.  

Writer Paul Levitz and artist Yildiray Cinar present a team mired in tension, as resentment for Earth-Man come to a boil. Plus, what happened to the twin children of Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad? Plus, an all-new Green Lantern is revealed.  

Artist Yanick Paquette is no stranger to the adventures and wild worlds created by the comics mastermind that is Grant Morrison, and BATMAN INCORPORATED will be no exception.  

Well, in this case it’s more like “Look! Sitting here on my desk!” but you get the point. One of the funny things about working in the DCU editorial offices is that I am constantly looking at stuff that I can’t talk about with the fans. Having to wait until we’re ready to announce something can be torture. For example, I really wish I could tell you about the new character that we’re about to debut in TEEN TITANS but I can’t. Or I wish I could tell you what’s happening in the Bat-books in 2012 (that’s not a typo) but I can’t spill the beans. So it’s a good day when something comes across my desk that’s not out yet, but that I can show you.  

Writer Brian Azzarello and artist Rags Morales present the next chapter in the FIRST WAVE saga, as Doc Savage and The Spirit have followed the Blackhawks to Hidalgo. But the Red Hand stands between them and the murderous Anton Colossi – who’s busy breaking bread with his dear friend Bruce Wayne, i.e. The Batman. And when Doc’s newfound fortune is stolen as quickly as it was discovered, it’ll take another uneasy truce between The Avenger and Doc’s crew of compatriots to track it down.  

In an announcement made today, Haunted Movies partner Jason Blum unveiled plans for the company’s next picture, The Lords of Salem, to be directed by Rob Zombie from a script by Zombie. Set in modern-day Salem, the film involves the demonic return of a 300-year-old coven of witches.  

Ibex Moon recording artists and death metal purists GRAVEHILL have been added to the already stacked lineup for next year’s Maryland Deathfest. Set to take place May 27 – 29 @ Sonar in Baltimore, MD, Maryland Deathfest is heralded as America’s biggest metal party of the year. The following bands have been confirmed for MDF 2011 thus far:  

So let me start off with saying that when I heard that “The Batman” animated series was being cancelled and replaced by the new Batman: The Brave and The Bold series, I was a bit upset. I, unlike many animated Bat-fans liked “The Batman” series, especially in its final season as members of the JLA were making individual appearances. So, I resisted a bit on catching up with The Brave and The Bold. Then I watched a couple of episodes on the Cartoon Network, and lo and behold, I was hooked.
