  New Jersey isn’t as bad as they say: sure there’s the pollution and unfriendly people, but once you get past the north-eastern part of the state you tend to find a bit of everything. Despite being cramped and filled with a ton of people, New Jersey doesn’t get a lot of the lower-to-mid tier touring bands because of a lack of a suitable venue for their shows. So technically, that’s why see plenty of bands from overseas playing venues in the Manhattan and Brooklyn area. Every now and then, however, you’ll find the brave band from Scandinavia make a venture into New Jersey, in this case Finland’s power metal titans Sonata Arctica, and you just feel inclined to venture there yourself to bear witness...

ARMORED SAINT will join Queensrÿche and Midnight Eternal for a US tour. Set to commence on November 15th in Seattle, Washington, the trek will run through nearly two-dozen cities, coming to a close on December 15th in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  

The third and final wave of acts for the LA-based December edition of THE POWER OF THE RIFF has been announced, this week confirming the addition of INCANTATION, OBLITERATIONS, KOWLOON WALLED CITY, NECROT, LIES and CRYPT ROT to the event on December 17th and 18th, 2016. The two-day fest will carry on the tradition of bringing a diverse line up of heavy music together under one roof. Presented in conjunction with Southern Lord, each night of THE POWER OF THE RIFF will feature artists bridging the realms of underground extreme music, including a mix of both internationally-recognized and brand new acts.
