The Big Kahuna Hard Music, News Comments Off on Atriarch Announce New Album ‘Dead As Truth’; New Song

Ritualistic, apocalyptic noisemakers ATRIARCH are back with their fourth offering of mind-altering, doom-soaked, deathrock entitled Dead As Truth. Recorded and mixed by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios (Om, Graves At Sea, Vhol) and featuring artwork by Stevie Floyd (YOB, Dark Castle), Dead As Truth sees ATRIARCH venture deeper into the blackened abyss with haunting incantations, exotic drones, and crushing aural experimentations that boldly embrace death’s cold heart. Fragments of post-punk, gothic doom, black metal, sludge, and noise complement the band’s desolate universe and further supplement their most immediate and formidable release to date. ATRIARCH prescribe the order that there is but one truth...

Evan Conway Hard Music, News Comments Off on Op-Ed: Playing Albums Live Should Be Earned

When I was in 9th grade, I missed the chance to see Mastodon perform Crack the Skye in its entirety. Such an album has made a massive impact on me growing up, it was a disappointment that I couldn’t go see them perform. A few years later and I missed another chance to see a full album performed in its entirety: Amon Amarth’s Surtur Rising. Part of their “Evening With” tour before they blew up to great heights on the following album, I ended up willingly passing on this performance. While I enjoy the album they were advertising, it never made any sense to me: why were they playing this album in particular live?

The Big Kahuna Hard Music, News Comments Off on Body Count Release Music Video for “Here I Go Again”

Los Angeles Thrash Metal legends BODY COUNT have released yet another music video in the wake of their widely acclaimed new album, Bloodlust. The band’s music video for the song “Here I Go Again” is arguably their most gory and horrific offering to date, all the while showcasing frontman Ice-T’s well known fascination with the morbid side of art and playing the villain. Only befitting for such a video, the band has partnered with some of the biggest authorities on horror-focused entertainment, namely Bloody-Disgusting, Dread Central, and Blumhouse, to release the new video.

Evan Conway Hard Music, News Comments Off on Arch Enemy Unveil “Will To Power” Artwork

I remember the exact moment when I learned Angela Gossow was leaving Arch Enemy, and then the next day I was overly satisfied with Alissa White-Gluz’s performance on “War Eternal.” The album went on to be a big one for the band, with Alissa being a natural fit for the band. Three years on, it’s time for a new album.

Evan Conway Hard Music, News Comments Off on Stone Sour and Nickelback are Fighting

Nickelback are just that rock band that happen to be on the receiving end of everyone’s jokes. The fact of the matter is, they’re  a simple rock band that got popular and because of them being played on the radio, it’s easy to see why they were on the receiving end of criticism. It could’ve happened with any other post-grunge rock band, but it was Nickelback in the end. So why is Chad Kroeger running his mouth?
