Art by Jordan DiRenzo

The Kickstarter campaign for Robots vs. Princesses creator Todd Matthy and Jordan DiRenzo’s Disciple is ending on Friday April 22nd.

Disciple has been tearing up Kickstarter for the past month, reaching it’s funding goal and is looking to finish strong by unlocking stretch goals including guitar picks, a new variant, and extra pages.

If you haven’t checked out the campaign, the story is about Jesse Sampson who was on top of the world, yesterday. He is debuting with the Championship Wrestling Council. Then his girlfriend dumped him for another man and the CWC is portraying him as a loser. Enter Mars, the God of War, who grants him the ability to manipulate emotions. As his popularity grows so does Mars’ influence, and with television, the internet, and social media, that influence reaches dangerous levels.

Still on the fence? See what these luminaries from the comics and wrestling world have to say:

“Ancient Gods, professional wrestling, dynamic art and epic drama make The Disciple a book to watch!”—Scott Snyder (Writer. BATMAN, AMERICAN VAMPIRE, WE HAVE DEMONS)

“Todd Matthy tells a unique and compelling story in the most creative way as a timeless battle of immortals crosses paths with the world of modern day professional wrestling.

The ring has always been a platform to settle disputes, and these deities have more at stake than the loyal fans watchings can fathom”—Rob Van Dam (WWE Hall of Famer, ECW Original, WWE/ECW/TNA/IMPACT World Champion, The Whole F’N Show)

“Good job. Way to testify”- D’Von Dudley (Former WWE, WCW, ECW, NWA, TNA/Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion)

“Very cool. Awesome artwork!” –Jeff Jarrett (WWE Hall of Famer, Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Former NWA Champion, Founder- TNA/Impact Wrestling)

“This is smart and original. I very much enjoyed what I read, I see potential, and I heartily endorse this project”–Mark Waid (Writer, Kingdom Come, Fantastic Four, The Flash)

“I love to seek out good wrestling comics, and DISCIPLE ticks so many of my boxes. There is a streak of wry commentary on the current pro wrestling landscape, with a brewing undercurrent of supernatural horror. A strong showcase for the creative team.”

– John Lees (SINK, HOTELL, THE CRIMSON CAGE)
