The Big Kahuna Hard Music, News

Following the breakthrough success of last year’s RR7349, Austin-based experimental synth quartet S U R V I V E have announced the impending release of RR7387, a four song EP of remixes and reinterpretations due November 3 on Relapse Records. Featuring an eclectic batch of luminaries including Justin Broadrick aka JK Flesh (of Godflesh, Jesu), Lena Willikens, Not Waving, and Sam Haar (of Blondes), the new renditions showcase the compositional skill, rich diversity, and broad scope of S U R V I V E’s expansive sonic palette.

The band’s signature sound is achieved via a large collection of vintage and modern synthesizers, performed and recorded live at the band’s own Omniverse Studios. After their initial entry into the film world with their work on the acclaimed indie horror film The Guest, members Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein achieved notoriety (and won an Emmy for “Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music”) via their work on the runaway hit Netflix series “Stranger Things.”

Formed in 2009, S U R V I V E has amassed an extensive discography of EPs, singles, and tapes with no signs of slowing down. Noisey called their live show “transcendental,” and fittingly the band have become festival mainstays (including performances at Coachella, Moogfest, FYF, FORM Arcosanti, amongst many others) in addition to providing support to such venerable peers as Aphex Twin, Björk, Radiohead, Tame Impala, Ariel Pink, Flying Lotus and many others. S U R V I V E ’s uncompromising standards in engineering and sound design manage to draw character out of every enriched sound wave before being allowed to join the mix.

S U R V I V E are:

Adam Jones,
