Longtime music photojournalist and author MICHAEL TULLBERG announces his latest major output: the photography for the new Jane’s Addiction album “Ritual de lo Habitual – Alive At Twenty-Five”. Shot and recorded on September 23, 2016 at the late Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in southern California, the album has the iconic alternative rock group celebrating the 25th anniversary of their seminal album “Ritual…” by playing it in its entirety for 15,000 fans.
Tullberg captured every moment of this historic show, and the results can be seen in a colorful mini-album of photographs included with the album.
Being a member of the world-famous Getty Images’ entertainment division for over a decade, and also having photographed the band and its individual members live many times previously, Tullberg was a natural choice for the project. “It was definitely both a privilege and a challenge to do this very special event,” he said. “An anniversary gig like this one only comes around once in a long time, and when you add the fact that Jane’s Addiction has such a dynamic live show, you get an atmosphere that’s full of dazzling visual possibilities. I’m very happy that both the album and the images turned out as great as they did.”
This Jane’s Addiction album is just the latest to feature photography by Tullberg, who has been tapped for album work by electronic music icons such as Carl Cox and Ferry Corsten. His Getty work includes an enormous stable of artists, including Ozzy Osbourne, Miley Cyrus, Roger Waters, Pharrell Williams, Justin Bieber, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and many more.
Tullberg is also the writer and publisher of two groundbreaking books on electronic music: “DANCEFLOOR THUNDERSTORM: Land Of The Free, Home Of The Rave” and “The Raver Stories Project”, both of which were released under Tullberg’s own 5150 Publishing imprint.
JANE’S ADDICTION’s “Ritual De Lo Habitual – Alive At Twenty-Five” is available on Blu-ray, DVD, CD and vinyl. It is presented by Rock Fuel Media in association with Sonic Films, Cleopatra Records and MVD Entertainment Group. It is available for purchase online and in stores nationwide.
