Chelsea Wolfe, the doom-oriented songwriter embraced by the metal community, announced this morning her newest album, Hiss Spun, will be released this year. Having found success in the metal community with her appropriately titled fourth album, Abyss, her forthcoming fifth album will be her third release on the Sargent House record label.

Hiss Spun is produced by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios in Massachusetts. Ballou, the guitarist of Converge, has done work this year with Full of Hell and Code Orange, with his line of work including High on Fire, Nails, and The Dillinger Escape Plan, and his mark is immediately apparent by “16 Psyche” and its powerful chorus. Chelsea Wolfe performed with Converge last year during the band’s Blood Moon performances, in which they dedicated an entire set to the softer, more ambient side of their music. As such, their partnership should be expected.
