Morbid AngelIn a somewhat surprising revelation, returning Morbid Angel frontman Steve Tucker revealed that the band’s setlist on their upcoming tour with Suffocation will feature material only from his era in the band.

Tucker, speaking with Blabbermouth, revealed the mental process in which he and Morbid Angel-mainstay Trey Azagthoth, came to this conclusion, after which he confirmed that the band will be playing a new song or two on the tour.

“The setlist will be different, too — in the past, we’ve covered all of Morbid Angel discography, but this time we went with the discography between Trey (Azagthoth) and I. I’m really excited about the fact that every song we play is a song I was a part of. There are some Morbid Angel classics that aren’t there, but we made our own classics.”

During his time with Morbid Angel, Tucker performed bass and vocals on Formulas Fatal to the Flesh, Gateways to Annihilation, and Heretic before the band was rejoined by first frontman David Vincent. After a much maligned album and years of touring with Vincent, Trey recruited Tucker to join the band again, commencing work on what will be their ninth studio album.

Morbid Angel is touring with Suffocation, Revocation, and Withered this month into June. The forthcoming Morbid Angel is expected to release later this year.
