CyHraIt shook the In Flames fanbase at first, but when Peter Iwers stepped down as bassist, it was quickly announced that he was reuniting with former band mate Jesper Stromblad. Soon after, the project was revealed to be titled “CyHra” and other members were being announced around the same time. Little has been revealed since then, but we may be getting closer to finding out what they’ll be sounding like.

Consisting of both Iwers and Stromblad, the new band is rounded out by former Amaranthe vocalist Jake E and (Luca Turilli’s) Rhapsody drummer Alex Landenburg, CyHra have entered the mixing stage of their debut release. The band has been documenting the recording process heavily over the past few weeks, doing so in New York, and have been quickly generating interest based on the people involved. One of the factors being the first release with both Iwers and Stromblad since In Flames’ 2008 release, A Sense of Purpose.

While there is no music to share currently, one can take a few guesses based on hints the band has left us. Most importantly, half the band comes from a power metal background (Jake E sings for Dreamland, a power metal band and Landenburg is a part of Rhapsody) and the other a melodic death metal/alternative metal frontier. The log above also is very digital in its construction, so it wouldn’t be a far cry to guess the band taking on a merging of the two backgrounds, being melodic death metal music with power metal vocals. Melodic groove/power metal, perhaps? We’ll have to wait and see.

Judging by the progress made so far, we should probably expect something in mid-June to anywhere in July if they want to get the ball rolling quicky.
