black-hole-generatorA Requiem For Terra is the forthcoming new full-length from BLACK HOLE GENERATOR. Led by Vulture Industries’ mainman Bjørnar E. Nilse, and set to drop later this month via Dark Essence Records, the seven-track offering shifts between the bleak aural landscapes of a desolate world and the frantic torrent of the abyss. From the brooding, doom-laden opener of “A Requiem For Terra“, and the mesmerizing riffing of “Moloch” to the catchy “Beneath A Chemical Sky” and the fierce “Emerging Pantheon“, A Requiem For Terra boasts Nilsen’s distinctive and highly charged vocals and enough stand-out riffing to satisfy the souls of any guitar aficionado, with Arve Isdal (Enslaved, Audrey Horne) on guitars, Gjermund Fredheim (Taake, Orkan) performing lead guitars on three of the tracks, and additional guitars by Dag Terje Andersen.

In advance of its release, today Decibel offers up “Moloch” for communal feasting noting of the track, “Building from trancelike melodies to a powerful crescendo, BLACK HOLE GENERATOR then explodes into high-speed blast beats and tremolo picking. By the song’s end, the speed has reached a peak as vocalist Bjørnar Nilsen cries out to Moloch with the screams of a man possessed.

Comments Nilsen, “Moloch‘ was one of the first tracks that was finalized for the album. It is one of my personal favorites from A Requiem For Terra and it acts as the centerpiece for the album. It embodies the album’s bleak atmosphere which spans most of its dynamic range. Starting off as a mesmerizing hymn to the deity Moloch, it is broken up by frantic, furious parts tearing everyone out of their mantric slumbers. On this track I was lucky to get Gjermund from Taake and Orkan on board on lead guitars, and his contribution really shines on this one!
