I recall the internet exploding in 2014 as Edgar Wright announced his departure from Ant-Man. Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End all stand as some of my favorite movies, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is no doubt included in there, too. So when the acclaimed director left the new Marvel property I had wanted so badly, I was stunned. I wasn’t alone, as Evangeline Lilly (Hope van Dyne) even has gone on record stating that she nearly walked out of the film with the announcement. And by the time the first trailer dropped, it seemed confused as to whether it wanted to be dramatic or comedic.
