Entertainment Tonight confirmed that Amber Heard, who has been recently rumored, is now confirmed to be playing Mera, wife to Aquaman. While details are currently under wraps Heard confirms that she will be a part of 2017’s Justice League film, as well as Aquaman in 2018.

Amber Heard and Mera When asked about her costume, Heard was able to shed some details. “It’s interesting. It’s like, half suit of armor, half scales,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s strange… We’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along.” This is much in line with the Aquaman photo that was revealed last year, forgoing the simple scale-armor of the comics in favor of more impressive and mythological designs hinted at by Momoa’s armor design.

Heard’s previous films include 406 in Zombieland, in which she tries to gnaw at Jesse Eisenberg’s throat in the film’s opening moments. Interestingly enough, both actors are now joining the DCEU in prominent roles, but Mera being historically faithful to Aquaman and powerful enough herself would make it seem unlikely she’ll be going to Lex Luthor for protection any time soon.

Mera, as portrayed by Heard, will appear in Justice League Part One, which will be released on November 17, 2017. and will be directed by Zack Snyder, starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavil, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ray Fischer, and Ezra Miller. Aquaman will be released on July 27, 2018, and will be directed by James Wan, director of Saw, The Conjuring, and Furious 7.
