Atlantic recording artist Shinedown has announced the release of their long awaited new single. “Cut The Cord” – the multi-platinum certified rock band’s first new music in three years – is available now on the iTunes Store and at all DSPs.

Produced by Shinedown’s own Eric Bass, “Cut The Cord” heralds the eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2012’s RIAA gold certified “AMARYLLIS.” The as-yet-untitled new album will arrive later this year. Further details will be announced shortly.

Shinedown frontman Brent Smith explains: “Cut The Cord” is a wake up call reminding us all that we can control our own destiny by finding the courage and tenacity to destroy whatever it is that’s holding us back. The process may not be pretty or perfect or even easy, but absolutely necessary. The song is brutally honest and unapologetic, which is what Shinedown has always been. We really wanted the video to match the intensity of the song. We’ve worked with [director] Darren Doane on several of our videos so there’s a real trust between us and it only took a few takes. Honestly, I don’t think we could have done too many more – we gave it everything we had, literally playing so hard that it physically hurt.”

Meanwhile, the “Cut The Cord” companion video recently made its world premiere on Billboard.com. The powerful clip – directed by the band’s longtime collaborator Darren Doane (“Devour,” “Sound of Madness,” “Bully”) – can now be viewed at Shinedown’s official YouTube channel, https://youtu.be/9itwt_opsvQ.

Shinedown is currently getting ready to embark on a very special summer tour, their first major trek in more than two years. The dates see Shinedown visiting theatres and other intimate venues across the country, performing a unique set that will include classic hits, deep cuts, and best of all, new songs from the band’s upcoming fifth studio album.

The tour gets underway July 9th at St. Petersburg, FL’s Mahaffey Theater and then continues through late August (see attached itinerary). Support on most dates comes from special guests Nothing More. In addition, Shinedown has also slated a series of top-billed festival performances, with highlights including Cadott, WI’s Rock Fest XV (July 16th), Walker, MN’s Moondance Jam (July 18th), and Syracuse, NY’s KROCKATHON 20 (July 25th). What’s more, the trek includes a one-night-only hard rock spectacular, with Shinedown headlining a multi-artist bill at Maryland Heights, MO’s Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre that also includes Three Days Grace, Buckcherry, Nothing More, and Hurt (August 1st). Shinedown will return to the road in October for an additional pair of festivals, Louisville, KY’s Louder Than Life (October 4th) and Sacramento, CA’s Monster Energy Aftershock 2015 (October 24th). The band is already set to kick off 2016 by crossing the Atlantic for the UK’s annual “Carnival of Madness Tour,” joining fellow hard rock icons Black Stone Cherry and Atlantic Records labelmates Halestorm for arena dates slated through mid-February. Further tour plans will be revealed soon – please see www.shinedown.com/news for up-to-the-minute announcements.

Known worldwide for their unparalleled streak of hits, Shinedown is without question one of the most successful rock bands of the 21st century. The band’s unmatched ascendancy over multi-format rock radio commenced with their 2003 debut “LEAVE A WHISPER” and the 2005 follow-up, “US AND THEM.” Together, both albums yielded seven consecutive top 5 radio hits, including the #1 blockbuster, “Save Me.”

Released in 2008, “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” proved to be Shinedown’s mainstream breakthrough, debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200 before spending 120 consecutive weeks on the chart. The album made rock history, with each of its six singles reaching #1 on the airplay rankings, including the double-platinum certified crossover smash, “Second Chance,” which also went to #1 on the Hot AC chart and top 3 at Top 40.

“AMARYLLIS” followed in 2012 and immediately entered Billboard’s “Rock Albums” chart at #1 while also coming in at #4 on the overall Billboard 200 with over 105,000 units sold in the first week – the multi-platinum group’s biggest chart debut thus far. The album spawned a trio of massive hits in “Bully,” “Unity,” and “Enemies,” all of which reached #1 at Active Rock radio, bringing Shinedown’s tally of consecutive chart-toppers at the format to an amazing nine and counting. In addition, two additional singles from “AMARYLLIS” – “I’ll Follow You” and “Adrenaline” – both reached the top 5 at Rock radio, furthering a record-setting streak in which every one of Shinedown’s eighteen singles over their decade-plus career has ascended to the upper regions of the radio charts – a feat that no other rock band has achieved.

Hailed by fans as an explosive and exciting live act, Shinedown have toured hard throughout their career, including countless headline treks and high profile festival appearances. In addition, the band’s numerous national television appearances include performances on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and TODAY, CBS’ The Early Show, and TBS’ Conan, among others. In 2009, Shinedown received an American Music Award nomination for “Best Alternative Rock Band.”

Shinedown is: Brent Smith (vocals), Barry Kerch (drums), Zach Myers (guitars), and Eric Bass (bass).
