» Blog Archive Lando makes his way to Special Edition. -

Along time ago in a galaxy far, far, away…….lived a hustler, and gambler who smooth talked his way across the universe with charismatic charm as he found his way to the leadership role of Cloud City. In case you haven’t noticed, I am talking about the one and only Lando Calrissian from the Star Wars lore.

As a smuggler, and card player, Lando worked his way to administrator of Cloud City, but we as fans often wonder how he ended up in that position. How did he meet Han Solo, and whats his back story before he joined the rebel alliance?

Well, all that is about to be answered from the latest news derived from this years New York Special Edition. Writer Charles Soule (She-Hulk, Death of Wolverine) and artist Alex Maleev (Hellboy, Moon Knight) collaborate to bring an in depth adventure to how this man came to be. What I’d like to call a mixture between James Bond, and Jim Kelly, this intergalactic story depicts a part of the Star Wars realm on how Lando lost his Millenium Falcon to Han (fellow smuggler, gambler, and smooth talking hustler), and how he made his way in the cosmos by avoiding the evil clutches of the empire.

According to Soule, we will get a chance to get more in touch with another underrated character from the Star Wars mythos, such as Lobot. Lobot is the loyal cyborg handy-man who accompanies Lando through all his endeavors. As a mirror image, we have known Han and chewbacca to have a buddy-cop relationship, but this story also gives us the bro-mance between Lando and Lobot as well. Soule further elaborates during the Marvel panel that Lobot is more than just a quite machine of a man, but actually has a sense of humor, and spontaneous personality that makes him and Lando one heck of a dynamic duo. Soule iterates that Lobot was often the Star Wars action figure nobody ever picked up, but this story will make up for that lack of interest. More than just a chief administrative aide, Lobot brings spunk and charisma to this team of heroes. With technicolor wonder from Maleev, and a rich back story to a man that is more than just a space mining operator, Marvel promises that the July release of Lando #1 will be an intricate part to the Star Wars sage.
