WRVTHAs newer, younger bands infiltrate the ranks of metal, it sometimes becoems quite hard to find the good ones. That’s what Metal Machine is here for, to separate out the week crap from the good shit, and today, we have some really good shit! We review Wrvth by the band WRVTH!

WRVTH is comprised of members: Thomas Vasquez – Vocals, Joseph Serrano – Drums, Marcus Vasquez – Guitar, Jeremy Larsen – Guitar, and Taylor Preston – Bass.

This new slab of metal hails from Northern California, where the sun and sand breed a lovely new strain of metal bands and fans. WRVTH comes to us as a mixture of very heavy, very talented shredding metal, a bit death, a bit prog with certain arrangements and the addition of a sexy sax, with a vocalist who uses a more modern, almost Djent type approach to his raw vocals. Appreciating more than just pure, raw noise and energy, WRVTH have a penchant for wonderful arrangement as the album progresses. From a blistering attack from the guitarists, Marcus Vasquez and Jeremy Larson/Taylor Preston, and drums, Joseph Serrano, seguing into very jazzy, upbeat sections that just blend wonderful musical flavors together. Further into the album, a flower of progressive metal begins to bloom, and you get these bright, echo laden clean tones and fret runs that absolutely suck you in.

Across all of this, the vocalist, Thomas Vasquez, lays down some of the most passionate delivery of many bands we have had scoot across the desk in the basement, with a rasping scream that carries so much weight, it’s amazing the mic could pick it up. Must lift a lot. And coupled with the delivery amping up when the song tself is just releasing all the pent up energy, it becomes a pummeling journey through a well produced, slick album with a huge, deeply layered sound. It belies a young band, and they can honestly only go up at this juncture.

For faster speeds, smartly progressive metal, and just an overall enjoyable album, Wrvth by WRVTH is going to delight listeners of many different ages and metal backgrounds. Look for Wrvth on June 16th at WRVTH‘s online store, or visit their Facebook or Twitter!
