Ommadon albumRecently, doom/drone/sludge bands have been releaseing some intense albums, strippng down any kind of riff as sonic excess. They have been slabs of primal savagery, shaking the foundations of what simple can be. Ommadon has now dropped another monolith upon us, in the form of Empathy for the Wicked: a 2 song, Side A/Side B monstrosity that will rattle your teeth.

Let me put this just as simply: Other than a giant, savage, fuzz laden riff, and a solid if simple drum backing, Ommadon give you nothing. It is a massive wall of oscillating fuzz upon an unchanging cliff of clamoring chugging. There is no lead. There is no vocalization. There is bass, other than what the guitar produces, and that is evil enough. Ommadon simply give you drone metal as it should be, no filler, all killer.

THe tone is one of downtune just about no tension, and chug the hell out of it. The drumming breaks up the signal a bit, using perfect balance of symbols, clashing and bashing around, and double kick, it gives you a strip of land in the ocean of grating noise that is Empathy for the Wicked.

If you are looking for stripped down music, Empathy for the Wicked is right up your alley. All 45~ minutes of destructive musical warfare will spin right into a vortex of black fuzz sure to give you the vapors! Look for Empathy for the Wicked by Ommadon on July 15th!
