July 26th will mark the 20th anniversary of the release of Madballs classic album and first full-length, Set If Off. A fan favorite and defining album for New York Hardcore in the 90s, the title track is still a highpoint during every live Madball show. To celebrate this momentous occasion the band is announcing a special guest will be joining them for their performance at the This Is Hardcore fest in Philadelphia on July 27th. Matt Henderson guitarist from 92-01 (including on the Set It Off album) will be joining the group on-stage.
Speaking on the significance of Hendersons appearance for the band, front-man Freddy Cricien had the following to say when it comes to the blueprint of our band, you cannot talk about a defining Madball sound or style without mentioning Matt the wild card Henderson. He was one of the original architects and not only impacted MB in every way but also influenced a generation of guitarists to followed. In celebration of 20 years since the release of Set It Off, the album that put us on the map, we will be inviting Matt (who is still very much part of our family) to join us on stage and play the songs that he had a big hand in co-writing, molding, and arranging.
Cricien and crew will also be playing plenty of new material from their upcoming album Hardcore Lives during the live show as well. The album has been pushed back a week from the original announced date and will drop digitally on July 4th. Physical copies (vinyl and CD) will be released on July 8th, all through the bands own The Black N Blue Label (in U.S.).
A new song from the album entitled Born Strong received an official video premiere last week and features guest vocals from Candace Puopolo of Walls Of Jericho.
