Entertainment Weekly has aired their cover for its San Diego Comic-Con preview issue featuring Marc Webb’s “Amazing Spider-Man 2.” The cover is the first serious look at Jamie Foxx as Electro with all the effects and costuming in tact, as he stands against Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.EW also revealed a small portion of its interview with Andrew Garfield about his view on ever changing ideas of Spider-man films. The actor also recalled a conversation he had with producer Matt Tolmach about the Mary Jane character and Peter Parker’s blooming and awkward sexuality.
“I was kind of joking, but kind of not joking about MJ,” Garfield told EW. “And I was like, ‘What if MJ is a dude?’ Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It’s hardly even groundbreaking!…So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?”
Garfield went on to nominate actor Michael B. Jordan for the role, saying, “I’ve been obsessed with Michael B. Jordan since ‘The Wire.’ He’s so charismatic and talented. It’d be even better — we’d have interracial bisexuality!”
I’m not sure if Garfield was paid to say this in the media due to recent DOMA announcements and the blossoming of gay marriage around the country, but I’m not going to hate on him for saying it. However, that would not be sticking true to the comic story lines which is one of my huge pet peeves. ANYWAY! Here’s the cover, enjoy yourselves!
