So many rumors have been floating around the internet about which characters the announced actors will play in Guardians of the Galaxy. When Benicio Del Toro was signed on for multiple films the the news just fed the fires of speculation. Now that the Guardians has begun filming in the UK it is a little bit harder to conceal identities, even for superheroes. Den of Geek has announced that they have a very solid source in making these facts, and considering that they are based out of the UK and have been trustworthy in the past we are privy on believing them. So, according to the UK Den’s new report, the characters being played by Benicio Del Toro and Karen Gillan in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy are The Collector and Nebula. Lee Pace is playing Ronan the Accuser, which was already announced however has some merit in this combination of introductions because of the comic characters story line. Del Toro has been slated for multiple films which is a bit of a throw off because how can the Collector be featured in multiple story lines? It has been said that Ronan the Accuser will “swap sides” as the film goes on, which makes fans squeal because it lays within the story line of the comics. Enter Nebula, who is the space pirate relative of Thanos and you have a serious cast that makes sense. Also with this line of consistency we can see an open doorway for Infinity Gems to come into play in the plot. Infinity Gems, sometimes referred to as the Soul Gems, are six immensely powerful gems featured in the fictional Marvel Universe. Whoever holds all six gems in the Infinity Gauntlet gains omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, and God-like power, and has absolute dominion over all realities, although the scope of the Gem’s power was retconned to be limited to the universe in which they originated.
