Disney officially now owns the distribution rights of all the Marvel phase one films. This includes Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger. A press release tells us that Paramount, the original distributor of most of Marvel’s films prior to Disney acquiring the studio in 2009, “was paid for the transfer of the distribution rights.” Fantastic, money money money, so what does this mean? This essentially means that Marvel and Disney are getting ready for the next phases of their films by making sure that all the superheroes are under their ultimate licensing. This also means that they can distribute everything on blu-ray and digital media at their leisure creating a whole different revenue for the company. Thus procuring that more income makes better films. Yay!
