On the eve of the opening of this film fans are sitting with their fingers crossed. We are all cautiously optimistic about how this film goes. It look beautiful, that cannot be denied, however the real testament to dedication lies within the story. IGN interviewed Russel Crowe about his role as Jor-El. From what I’ve watched and heard I feel like it’s very important that Crowe decided to take his own opinions on his portrayal. An actors connection to a character is key to an excellent execution of a story line.

In this interview we learned that Crowe was knowledgable about the past of Krypton and what it had become. We also find out that he has a very clear connection of fatherly love for Kal-El and that he has decided to pitch his ideas for the character to Snyder and Nolan almost to the point of fighting. Well done Crowe. This short interview gave me a little hope in a small portion of this film. However, the fact that Nolan fought Crowe on something so heartfelt toward a role really sent shivers up my spine. The film opens tonight and I will be present watching it with a review following soon after. We’ll see what the fuss is all about considering the stigma that has followed this franchise through out the years.
