It appears to be in rumors that Benicio Del Toro will not be playing Thanos. There is great speculation that he may be playing other roles related to the Marvel Universe. It is in speaks that this Oscar winner may be in “collection” and contention for other roles.
It is rumored that Del Toro could be playing Taneleer Tivan, also known as the Collector. The Collector, one of the Elders of the Universe who can wield the Power Primordial. An immortal, he fends off eternal boredom by roving the cosmos collecting different artifacts and beings. Hence, “The Collector.”It is well known that in the comics the Guardians of the Galaxy encountered both the Collector and the Avengers during The Korvac Saga, but that storyline may have no influence on the Guardians movie that is coming to theaters.

The James Gunn-directed Guardians of the Galaxy begins shooting soon in England for an August 1, 2014 release.
