A year ago it was confirmed that WWE wrestler Hornswoggle will be taking over Warwick Davis’ role in in the reboot of the horror film Leprechaun. The Wrap reported that Zach Lipovsky, a visual-effects artist and former contestant on Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett’s reality competition series On the Lot has been tapped to direct the horror themed comedy as it reboots the classic.
IGN recaps the show On the Lot as a show where 16 contestants battled it out for a development deal with Dreamworks. Lipovsky directed several short films and TV movies following his win, as well as the found-footage thriller Ends of the Earth. The reboot was stapled to come out in a 2 part series, the opener being Leprechaun: Origins slated to air in March 2013. Even though this date was missed there is still a lot of speculation as to who will be partnered with the film to perform it’s continuation. The 1993 movie starring Jennifer Aniston followed an evil Leprechaun on the hunt for his pot of gold. It hasn’t been stated exactly what story line the recreation is going to follow, but the general premise will most likely stay the same.
