With the onslaught of super hero films in the cinematic industry as of late, there are not many that have the budget and means for help such as, The Amazing Spiderman. Starring Andrew Garfield as the beloved Peter Parker and the beautiful and witty Emman Stone as Gwen Stacy on screen, the real phenomenon lies behind the scenes. This $420 million dollar film has created nearly 4,000 jobs for New Yorkers through out Brooklyn and Long Island. Needless to say in this recession that is and immaculate conception of job market for individuals in this city who are working in the arts. In addition to creating work for artists and cameramen alike, nearly 3,000 hotel room stays will have been generated on account of this high flying film. Oh, but it doesn’t stop there. Nearly 11,000 extras are going to be recruited for the many scenes of scampered New Yorkers going about their bustled days trying to maneuver the streets of Manhattan. All the while out arachnid hero swings above ensuring their safety. Residents aren’t the only ones thrilled about this, Coumo is even on board quoting, “There is no better place to film the next adventure of Peter Parker than right here in the Empire State.” He also said, “New York has the resources, talent and locations to help make ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ a blockbuster hit.”
I can’t express how fantastic this is. With the New York economy being in a serious lull, job opportunities are extremely scarce. The once mecca of arts where all of the talented flock to get a taste has left many hungry and down trodden. Hopefully more films take the cue from this film.
