Amanda Harvey Comic Book News, News, Reviews

Indie comics have been lowly regarded as nothing but second rate to the major companies for years. Artist and Writers struggle to individually produce their product out of their own pockets and push said product at booths within cons. However, with a new age of talent and ingenuity many have shined through the barriers of doubt. One of which that I just spent the last half hour of my life engulfed in entitled reMiNd.
reMiNd is an all ages friendly story about a coastal town inhabited by a tail of a monster of a creature. When a local woman, Sonja’s, pet goes missing she fears for the worst considering many pets in the town have disappeared. When her precious cat, Victuals, washes up on shore she finds something extremely peculiar about him. He can speak… and he’s intelligent, and can walk on his hind legs. How is this possible? He undergoes an extremely tragic and unfair sequence of events that leave his mind stranded somewhere it’s not used to and his heart broken in two. With Sonja’s help and some awesome sic-fi robotics, Victuals returns to his home to sort things out to normal, or at least try. I would be spoiling the story for you if I told you more, however this is a fantastic story with even more amazing artwork. I was extremely skeptical opening this book, to say the least. However, I was instantly grasped by the art style and the quips and wit displayed in the dialogue. Reading further I fell in love with the story. It was fantastic. The second I flipped the last page, I instantly wanted the second book, which in my opinion is a huge factor in the makings of a comic. This comic is the perfect combination of Sci-Fi, love, companionship, and brain transplanting. Jason Brubaker not only has created a beautiful piece of art that is captivating and interesting to all ages of comic readers, his novel was also Winner of the Xeric Award for a “work in progress” graphic novel. Brubaker keeps a blog about the making of his novels which gives a detailed step by step on his inner workings which inspires future comic creators to get their gears in order and do something. Produced by Coffee Table Comics, you should definitely check this one out
