A funny thing happened on the way to the Wizard World webpage. As I was browsing the site I noticed two things…the 2013 schedule Wizard World Convention schedule was up and posted for all to see. As I looked over the schedule, I noticed no Toronto show for this year. The other thing, and this one you have to dig a little deeper into the site, is the appearance of a possible New York show. As I was researching that in fact the Toronto show was officially omitted from the schedule, I went a little further into the exhibitor section of the site and noticed that on their exhibitor application, they have a New York Con listed for 2013…

It seems Wizard is planning this New York Show in June at a place called Basketball City. I checked the Basketball City website and didn’t find any Wizard Show on their schedule. Time will tell if Wizard can break into the New York Market once again. As the company has shed one show after another, not to mention one founding CEO as well (Gareb Shamus), Wizard could surely use a shot in the arm like only NY can give it. The company had the famous “Con Wars” some years back with several established Comic Cons through out the years, most notably the war with Reed Exhibitions who run the NY Comic Con. With recent eliminated shows in Miami, Boston, New Jersey, Cincinnati and Toronto, Wizards play to come back to the New York market will be closely watched.
