As if being the producer of some of the greatest projects to ever hit the big screen wasn’t enough, Joss Whedon has decided to turn his creative master mind to a world that he was born and bread for… comics. Paired with Dark Horse Comics and his beloved story lines of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Whedon’s new project Angel & Faith carries on the story lines that so many fans have felt so lost without for years.
Along with an all-star cast of huge comic name writers and artists, Whedon has set up a recipe for success in his new series. Writer Christos Gage know for House of M and World War Hulk has signed on board for a compilation of witty and moral wrenching dialogue that has reader questing where there balance lies in their every decision. Also included in this grab bag cast of creative genius are illustrators Lee Garbett, Derek Fridolfs and David Lapham. With a combination of three different artists that have a repertoire that spreads across the Marvel and DC selling boards, we as readers expect nothing but greatness in this series.
Following events in the lives of Angel and Whistler beyond the television series, these novels tap a whole new level of good and evil that could not have been fathomed within the confines of a television screen. The involvement of the intertwined story lines brings a whole new light to the world of dark fantasy that so many viewers know and love. There is however, a certain shadowed presence of characters that is brought to the pages in literature that could have never been viewed on screen.
The characters are brought to a more identifiable light having the reader run the characters histories and past along with their own making for a truly chilling feel that is unmistakable unique and makes further story lines highly anticipated.
Dark Horse has been very closely with the cinematic and gaming worlds recently creating new lines for well known movies such as Star War and games like Dragon Age. With all of their dedication and work towards revamping such loved topics, we can only expect to see tremendous things from them in the upcoming months. If Angel & Faith is of any consolation, this writer is obscenely excited, in the worst kind of way.
