Amanda Harvey Hard Music, News, Reviews

Three years. Three years is the amount of time that fans have waited to hear the latest work from fallen Gorgoroth members Gaahl and King. After a vicious dispute over rights to the name Gorgoroth, a new love child rose from the ashes of battered metal music, God Seed. Gaahl and King formed a new project with material meant for their previous band. An album in the works since 2009. A lyricist who has no dedication to finishing a a product without the most sincere hint of perfection added. So can we, the fans, finally expect a finished project that has had our faces turned to the media for so many years?
Why yes we can.
After much dispute, and confusion I Begin was released on October 22nd, 2012. Though the wait was long a treacherous, it was well worth it. The entirety of the 9 song album is filled with a vast array of new wave metal that is sure to put God Seed on the map of new age metal innovation. With a combination of new metal elements such as classic organ notes and experimentation with electronic ambiance, this album is nothing short of perfection.
In addition to a new feel of understanding to the genre, the band has an all star cast in production of I Begin. With the help of some very well known friends including Sir (Djerv, Trelldom) on guitar, Kennith Kapstad (Motorpsycho) on drums, Geir Bratland(Dimmu Borgir, Apoptygma Berzerk) on keyboards and Lost Kilman( Grimfist) on guitar, God Seeds debut album is a well oiled metal machine and is left ringing in your ears well after you remove your headphones.
With only the reputation of their live released performance of Waken in 2008, there wasn’t very much of a basis of artistic judgement to hold to the band. However, with the release of this album, this writer is certain that there is only great things to come out of the thrashing duo. Anyone can tell you that a rushed production process may lead to more product, but definitely not perfection. In God Seed’s case, the attention to detail was definitely appreciated.
